Memory Work Order

BEAR HUG BROCHURE
Each Cubbie must complete both Bear Hugs A & B in this brochure before work in the Hopper handbook may begin.

HANDBOOK
Learning Level A – Cubbies complete one Bear Hug each week.  All children work on the same Bear Hug at the same time.  If your child has missed a week of club, be sure to check the schedule or calendar for the current week’s Bear Hug.  After completing the current week’s Bear Hug, Leaders will work with Cubbies on making up any missed Bear Hugs (maximum of 2 make-ups per night).  We ask that parents help our Leaders by marking (e.g. visible post-it note) any missed Bear Hugs that are ready for review. A total of 24 Bear Hugs must be completed to receive an award at the end of the year.

Learning Level B (optional) - Under the Apple Tree may be done after the current Bear Hug and any missed Bear Hugs are completed.  Please sign the section once you completed the required activity or reading.  On club night, your Cubbie will receive apple stickers for each completed section.

Learning Level C (optional)- Cubbies Character Builder sections may be recited after the Cubbies clubber has recited the current Bear Hug, any missed Bear Hugs, and Under the Apple Tree activities.  A special Cubbie bear sticker is given for each completed character lesson.

v  Cubbies are allowed two “helps” on their Bear Hug verse recitation

v  Bear Hugs must be recited at one session.  If there are two verses in the Bear Hug, both must be recited at one session and in the order they appear (because they build on one another).

v  Four year olds must recite the verse AND reference. Three year olds are encouraged to recite the reference, if they are capable, but are not required.

v  Cubbies will recite the verse(s) they have learned at home to their Cubbies leader during club.

Suggestions for Memorizing

v  Repeat the verse over and over to your child.  Break the verse up into short phrases.

v  Explain what the verse means

v  Show them how the verse relates to their life.  There are examples in the Bear Hug story in the Handbook.
